Dr. Vasil Babamov

Dr. Vasil Babamov is the Editor of the Chemical Abstracts Thesaurus at the Chemical Abstracts Service in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Dr. Babamov has been active in organizing and mobilizing US based institutions to provide humanitarian aid to Macedonia, especially during the initial years of formation of Macedonia. Major actions include:

two airlifted shipments totaling 12 tons of medical supplies in 1991
a 4-container shipment of 20+ tons of medical equipment and supplies in 1993 shipment .
a shipment of 30,000 pounds of Chemistry books and journals 30,000 collected with the aid of the Project Bookshare of the ACS at a Glanceorm the acs was sent on December 31, 1998 .

Vasil Babamov is a son of Krum Babamov of Stip and Slavka Raleva of Kumanovo. His family owns a number of properties in Macedonia, including::

Hotel Makedonija, on the main square in Skopje. Built in 1942 this hotel was the premier hotel in Macedonia until 1963 when it was destroyed in the Skopje earthquake. In March of 1945 the central committee of ASNOM, the de facto government of Macedonia, took over two floors of the hotel as staff quarters of ASNOM.
